Masters of War

The title of one of Bob Dylan’s songs from 1963. Such an insightful young man to have written this at 21 years of age.

Come you masters of war
You that build all the guns
You that build the death planes
You that build the big bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks

Dylan is talking about all the arm manufacturers who profit from war. I respect Ukraine’s call for sovereignty, and I respect Russia call for a buffer zone as well, especially when there were 29 odd biolabs in the Ukraine funded by the USA. Why would China support Russia’s claim if it was unsubstantiated? And why would Russia complain to the UN Security Council if there was not some substance to their claim. It is not like Russia has invaded the Ukraine without a reason and unlike the USA who invade all over the globe, Russia’s invasion is of a neighbouring country because they fear for their own safety.

Anyhow, the dispute has now escalated into a full-blown war. The people of Ukraine are suffering the longer this goes on, and Western countries are loving this war to offload all their superfluous arms, so they can rebuild new weapons of war for themselves.

The West is loving this conflict. Look at the share prices of arms dealers and defence companies. There is no common-sense in continuing this war for the people of the Ukraine. The West is only there to help themselves. The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said they will assist the Ukraine until all Russians are driven off Ukrainian soil, including the Donbas region and Crimea. That will never happen. There are more Russians living in Crimea and quite a few in the Donbas region. The only solution to to negotiate a peaceful solution.

I think the hypocrisy of the USA and the West is well summarised by a recent speech by George W Bush.
