Omicron BA.4 and BA.5 variants have been slowly growing in prevalence since 1 May 2022 in NSW, now about 50%, and case numbers and hospitalization have been increasing. Maybe BA.4 and BA.5 are not as mild as they were suggested to be in South Africa. Deaths show a slight rise but more deaths usually follow after case numbers have surged.
