In 2021, there were 1,123 road crash deaths. And because of this we have lots of laws to keep road deaths and trauma down. You must wear a seatbelt. You cannot speed more than 5 km/hr over the speed limit. You must obey all traffic signals. There is a red light camera at most intersections now. Drink drivers have their licence taken away from them and some are thrown into jail.
Why am I raising all of this? I am trying to understand how 20,000 deaths a year to covid19 is accepted whereas 1000 deaths to car crash accidents is not. At the moment about 50 people a day are dying from covid19 in Australia. That is 18,250 a year. 100 per day is 36,500 a year. The number may actually be even higher as excess deaths are about 20% higher than normal, and we know that the “government” has now embraced the #letitrip policy to covid, so they will be busy hiding deaths from us. Some or many of these excess deaths may be vaccine related, but I will still put them down to covid, as the government gave people the message that the covid vaccines were safe and effective, which they are not, and they are all part and parcel with the pandemic. Call them covid pandemic deaths, or whatever.
They are mostly old people, or immune compromised, you say. Well, some of that may be true but it is not absolute (see graph below) and I am sure they and their families did not want them to die.
So we are now treating covid19 as if the pandemic is over with about 20,000 people dying each year being acceptable. We are also not counting all those who will later get organ damage or longcovid. That number will be about 1 to 2 million Australians. And when these sick people die from a reinfection to covid in the future, we should not be too concerned, as they were “compromised” after the first infection.
If we are going to maintain this stupidity, I recommend that we throw away all traffic laws. Imagine how much more police will be available to pursue real crime, and how much the courts will be freed up.
