This is interesting. Thx Alison Peta for telling me about it.
Apparently, Nitric oxide (NO) is released in the nasal airways in humans. During inspiration through the nose this NO will follow the airstream to the lower airways and the lungs. Nasally derived NO has been shown to increase arterial oxygen tension and reduce pulmonary vascular resistance, thereby acting as an airborne messenger.
The vasodilator gas nitric oxide (NO) is produced in the paranasal sinuses and is excreted continuously into the nasal airways of humans.
What makes this interesting is that recently I posted about an Israeli nasal product that killed covid. It’s main active ingredient was NO.
The above article/paper also tells you that humming increases the production of NO in your nasal cavity. I did mot realise that a Nobel prize has been given for the discovery of the medical benefits if nitric oxide as well. Here read this:
This explains why the Israelis have recently made a nasal spray with NO for covid19.
Well, well, together with my mask, Dandelions and Sunshine, I feel so much better now.
I also learnt that humming is a big part of Bhramari pranayama/yoga. It nurtures peace in your being, which in turn, results in self-healing. The Bhramari Pranayama lowers one’s blood pressure, thus relieving hypertension. It releases cerebral tension, hence it is recommended as a nightly routine yoga for better sleep. It soothes the nerves. Maybe the explanation lies in nitric oxide.
One response to “Can nasal breathing reduce the risk of getting covid19, reduce illness and ease stress?”
